It was a nice day on Dec. 31st so we went to Davidsons Mill Pond Park to take a nice walk. I thought I would also shoot a series of Multi-image Landscape Panoramas, but I could not decide what Camera & Lens combo to take. So I decided to take a few choices to see which worked better for what I was trying to photograph. I previously had cleaned up & reorganized my camera & lens cabinet and found a charger for an old Panasonic LX-1 Pocket camera that I used to use for wide shots when I was mostly photographing with my larger Canon gear, so I took that along also to see how it stood up to the newer Digital Cameras. I also set the LX-1 to 16×9 format. My iPhones & adjusting the images in Adobe Camera Raw had replaced me using the Panasonic LX-1 Pocket Camera many years ago. It was a nice day to get out and photograph some landscapes with nice cloud formations. After working on my images I was surprised how well the Panasonic LX-1 images did when compared to the newer cameras. Opening the LX-1 images in Adobe Camera Raw did get more detail out of the images. So the following multi-image panorama images are from an Olympus OMD-1 with a 7.5mm fisheye lens (& then DeFished in Photoshop), the iP11 Pro using the 1.5mm lens (full Frame camera FOV equivalent ~13mm) and the Panasonic LX-1 using the lens equivalent to a Field of View to a 28mm lens on a Full Frame Digital camera.
The Featured Image is a handheld 4 Image Panorama taken with 7.5mm Fisheye Lens on an Olympus OMD-1 & De-Fished the Image in PhotoShop using the Adaptive Wide Angle Filter listed under the selections on the top “Filter” selections.

We went to Davidsons Mill Pond Park to photograph a few panoramas, mostly for cloud formations. The Featured Image is of the small pond near the main parking area. Photographed from the wooded back area showing the pond from a different vantage point. This is 5 images, handheld @ 14mm, Panasonic 14-140mm, Olympus OM-D E-M1. When doing panoramas with the m43 format I tend to overlap the images much more than when using my standard Canon equipment.

This is a 4 image Cloudscape Panorama from a previous trip to Vermont. Images were shot @ 47mm with a Canon 24-105mm lens. I did not want to shoot wider because of buildings below & blank sky above which distracted from the main cloud formations.

I finally had a chance to work on some panoramas I shot last month at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, Brigantine Division in Oceanville NJ. The cloud formations on this day were amazing. So I had a lot of choices for working with series panoramas while we were there. Lately I have been using an Olympus m43 Camera with a 14mm – 140mm zoom for landscapes or general info shots and the Canon R with a 400mm DO lens or the Tamron 150-600mm for Wildlife. It is a lot easier to carry a smaller m43 camera with a wide zoom range along with the heavier full frame camera with longer lenses, instead of 2 large camera bodies. The m43 format with a 14-140mm zoom seems a little harder to do multi-image panoramas @14mm but after working with it for quite a while I am getting more usable & predictable panoramas. Sort of a learning curve I guess. Basically I overlap the images more. At 14mm with m43 format it is sort of the equivalent (field of view) of 28mm on a full frame DSLR. All the images here are shot at 14mm but go from 2 to 8 images for each photo panorama. Some were vertical images and some were horizontal images for each image.

Here is a series of early morning landscapes from the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge along the Wildlife Drive. The clouds this day were amazing in a dark kind of way. Blackwater NWR is one of my favorite places to photograph. It is great for birds & Wildlife, but also fun for landscapes! On this morning the clouds and sky were amazing. These were all shot with an Olympus m43 Camera with a 14-140mm lens at 14mm (full frame FOV equivalent 28mm). Some are 2 image panoramas to add height or length to the image.
2 image panorama to include more height for showing clouds @ 14mm
