Lake McCormack Panoramas @ Audubon Plainsboro Preserve

We went to the Audubon Plainsboro Preserve to photograph some more Fall landscapes and panoramas. This time I was using a 17-40mm lens on a Canon R. The six horizontal images for the Featured Image were taken @ 17mm. I loaded the six images into one Layered Photoshop file and let Photoshop automatically align & blend the layers for the final image. The vertical pano image below was also taken @ 17mm, but these were taken in a vertical format to have more height for the panorama. This pano is made from 3 images.

Lake Mc_Cormack Panorama

When we were photographing the trees with strong shadows at Plainsboro Preserve for the previous post, I also shot a series of 7 vertical images of Lake McCormack @17mm for a wide panorama. When shooting at wide @ 17mm, I overlap my series of images more than my usual overlapping if using a longer lens.

Audubon Plainsboro Preserve Winter Landscapes With Strong Shadows

We decided to go for a walk at the Audubon Plainsboro Preserve and see what we could find to photograph. The sun was somewhat low but that made long shadows in the landscapes and great starbursts on the lower sun in the sky. I was using one of my lenses that I do not use much – the Canon 17-40 mm lens.

Blackwater NWR Landscape

I was going through old files and found this Blackwater NWR Landscape from a few years ago. I liked the clouds accenting the tree line on the right side. This was taken with a 17-40mm lens @ 17mm. I was surprised because it was a lens I hardly ever used preferring a 12-24mm instead. Landscapes at Blackwater NWR can be spectacular, especially in the early morning or late afternoon. This image was taken in late afternoon before sundown.

Early Morning Warm Sunrise

I liked this morning sunrise image because it accented the warm sun rising low on the right side with its warm glow going above the trees and reflecting in the lake water. And still has a cool bluish tone on the left side of the image as the sun was rising. The bluish tone only lasted for a few minutes allowing me to get a few images to work with. I really liked the night to day feel of the image with the colors and tones. I got there before sunrise to be ready for the rising sun and be setup for the shot. As I was waiting I enjoyed the tones I was starting to see develop. Image shot at 22mm with a Canon 17-40mm zoom lens.
