I am still going through images from our visit to the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge which is 12 miles south of Cambridge, Maryland. The images here are of a Great Blue Heron roosting in a tree along the Wildlife Drive. It seemed like it liked posing for me so I had a lot of poses to choose from. Here are a few from the series of images of the Great Blue Heron. On a few I removed a tree branch here or there. was trying to see which I liked better. All images were taken with a Canon 7D with a 300mm lens with a 1.4X Teleconverter.

Some more feathers I found at the Davidson Mill Pond Park in New Jersey. While taking a walk, we found a few bunches of feathers. I liked the colors, textures and position of the main group of feathers. The featured image was 5 shots, handheld, overlapped and assembled in Photoshop. Taken with a 300mm f/4 lens. Photoshop usually does a pretty good job assembling handheld image series, with maybe a few manual touch ups.

We went to Davidson Mill Pond Park Earth Center in New Jersey to walk around and get some sun. I found this feather, stuck on a twig, blowing in the wind. I liked textures of the feather. But it was moving back and forth violently in the wind, so I used a shutter speed of 1/2000 of a second to try to get a sharp image. I also used a 300mm lens to get a smoother & cleaner looking background.
