Many times when I am out walking in a Wildlife Refuge to photograph birds I either cannot get close because they are high up in the trees or there are other things in the way to get close. Or they are flying some what in the distance. So if you are shooting “RAW” camera files such as Canon CR3 Raw files you can use “Enhance” in Photoshop to nicely uprez your images for severe cropping. Or if you want to really Print Large images. Works well for both applications. It also helps to run a noise reducing software after uprezzing. I had made my own Photoshop actions to uprez images but using “Enhance” in Photoshop is easier to use. The Featured Image is severely cropped from my “Enhanced” File. Sometimes I also use Nik Define software to remove some “noise” in the image if I am using a high ISO.
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing Reed.
You are very Welcome! Comes in handy sometimes! Thanks again!
Thanks for the tip Reed – been using Gigapixel for some of my uprezzing, but will give this a try – thnx.
Thanks! I usually use my own uprezzing action in Photoshop, but this works quite well. When I had my Commercial Photo & Wide format print studio I often had to uprez client’s files to very large files up to 50 feet long or more for wall murals. It was a challenge to uprez & hold detail without getting strange chunky artifacts in the final mural. So I am use to uprezzing files files to very large or long sizes.
Thanks for the tip 🙂
Have a nice weekend.
Thanks! Hope you have a nice weekend also!
Enhance is a great tool. Although I own Topaz Gigapixel AI I have yet to use it and so far see no need. Fortunately I have very large external drives for storage.
It comes in handy when you need it. I used to just use my own actions I made for uprezzing images because of the work I did in my Commercial studio. Not counting my old commercial work I keep in case old clients might need something I use about 40 external drives for my personal work. Probably should purge some of them some day instead of adding new ones!!
And I thought I was extreme having 6.
My only problem is finding a file I want. Now that I am retired I am trying to go through them and purge what I do not need! and condense the array!
Interesting and I want to learn more, I always process my photos from my RAW images too. What Photoshop version are you using? I have CS6 and cannot find an ‘enhance’ selection. Right now I actually have a RAW photo I am working on of a distant Kingfisher to print 10-12″ in size to display as a decal on our boat. I just taught myself how to clip the image to remove the background. The enhance might be my ticket to complete it! 🙂
Hi Donna! I believe you have to have CR3 files. If you email the file I have other ways to uprez images & will send back to you.
That would be awesome, Reed! I still have your aol email address from some time last year (?), is that still good for you?
