These images are from a couple of years ago when we stopped at Magnolia Gardens & their attached Audobon Swamp Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina while we were traveling to Florida. The Magnolia Gardens were not during a prime blooming time, but was still interesting with some flowers, trees with Spanish Moss and roaming noisy Peacocks and Turkeys. But the attached Audubon Swamp Gardens were very interesting. The Audobon Swamp Gardens are about 60 acres to walk through. Also it is an additional fee to go into the Audubon Swamp Gardens. The Audobon Swamp Garden was by the Ashley River which also had nice views to photograph. There were paths and boardwalks going through the Swamp. The landscapes & swampscapes were very interesting photo subjects. Also there were quite a few birds and alligators for interesting photo subjects along with the swamp landscapes. Landscapes needed fairly wide lenses to get it all in, but Wildlife needed very long lenses. So I used 2 cameras in the Swamp Gardens. For my main camera I was using a 150-600mm zoom usually at 600mm on a Canon R for wildlife and detail images. For landscapes I was using a 14-140mm lens on an Olympus OMD, usually@ 14mm..
Beautifully sharp photos of this handsome heron!
Thanks Belinda! They are fun to photograph!
I esp. like the second shot with the lichen-covered log and Spanish moss hanging down framing the heron. Pretty birds!
Thanks Eliza! One of my favorite birds!
Great shots, and the way it looks att you, intensive.
Thanks Hans! They are fun to watch & photograph!
Fine looking night heron, Reed!
Thanks so much Donna! They are one of my favorite birds to photograph!
Excellent captures of this beautiful fellow (I hope it’s a male…).
Thanks Greta! Do not know if it is a male or female. They are similar but the female is a little smaller. So if you do not see both together it is hard to tell!
