It is interesting to see Bald Eagles and Ospreys interacting and going after each other. Here the Eagle was trying to get the Ospreys fish, which it dropped, but they were still going at it for a while. This image was taken with a 400mm lens at the Brigantine Division of the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanville NJ.
Great capture Reed!
Thanks! It was fun to watch them!
Great shot, Reed! I get so darn excited when I see these two raptors interacting like this! I’ve been fortunate to see this many times and been lucky to capture it too. 🙂
Thanks Donna! I had better images of this sequence but I am still trying to find them on my backup drives. But posted this single image for now.
I hope you find them, I’d love to see them!
Since they do not want us out & about I am going to try to find them. This was just one near the end of the sequence that I found in one folder. Probably I put it there by mistake. I only have 32 backup drives to go through! Will give me something to do!
Great shot, Reed!
Thanks Greta! They were fun to watch!
What a great action shot of this interaction! I wonder if either of them ever went looking for the fish after it was over?
Thanks! They both flew on and went their separate ways!
Excellent action photo! The early American naturalists wrote frequently of the propensity of Eagles to steal from Osprey, and for that reason didn’t approve of it being our national bird. Great to see your photo illustration of their tales! William — “What a wildly wonderful world, God! You made it all, with Wisdom at Your side, made earth overflow with your wonderful creations.” Psalms 104 The Message
Thanks William! Yes, I thought I heard the wanted the turkey as the National bird.
