We also saw quite a few River Otters swimming in the channels at Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge in DeLand, Florida. They are always fun to watch as they interact & swim with each other. They seemed to be out more in the morning and fewer in the afternoon. These were taken in the morning with strong lighting from behind so I had to open up the shadows on the Otters. Luckily I was using a Canon R with a 300mm lens. The Canon R has much cleaner details, especially in the shadows, so it worked out well when opening up the shadow detail from the strong backlighting.
Excellent technique and results, Reed!
Thanks Belinda! They are fun to watch interacting with each other. It was hard to get all 3 in one shot! Usually 1 or 2 would be under water!
Otters are such fun to watch. They seem to have been very aware of your presence. Little ‘water dogs!’
Yes they were aware of us! But they were safe in a pond away from us. They were fun to watch!
Great shots, Reed! Adorable!!
Thanks Donna! They are definitely very active photo subjects. Pretty much non-stop movement!
Nice images of these otters, Reed.
Thanks Steve! These were better than I thought because of the strong backlighting! They were fun to watch and photograph!
