When we were at Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge in Florida, we had the opportunity to photograph Swallow-tailed Kites in flight. They were soaring above us as we walked the trails. They are a small raptor and I was using a backup camera with a Canon 400mm f/4 DO lens with a 1.4x teleconverter. It was fun to see them flying above us, checking us out.
Awesome sighting, Reed! I’m still trying to photograph my first shot of one of these! 😉
Thanks Donna! They were fun to watch! Seemed like they were following us for a while! It was fun to go back there after all these years. This is the place we stumbled on years & years ago and started our Photographing Birds & Nature.
What an ethereal bird – gorgeous!
Thanks Eliza! They were fun to watch fly around the Refuge!
