This is a closer view of the Bald Eagle Nest mentioned in an earlier post showing the Eagles roosting in trees along the Wildlife Drive at sunset. This image of the nest was shot the next day on a very cloudy overcast day. Would have liked a blue sky, but there again the overcast day eliminated most of the harsh shadows of the branches if it had been a very sunny day. It was fun to watch them flying to the nest.

Eagle bringing nest material
That nest looks huge, like a king sized bed!
Yes! They do seem to like it roomy!
I love watching and photographing this pair of Eagles at BNWR, their nest keeps getting bigger and bigger each year! Great shot, Reed!
Thanks Donna! Years ago there was a nest visible from the platform at Tubman Trail. So it was fun to photograph this one. Too bad Blackwater is 3 hours away!
What a special opportunity to be able to watch their comings and goings. Marvelous shots!
Thanks! Blackwater is one of my favorite places to photograph! If you are aware and watch the coming and going while on the Wildlife Drive, you can see where the Eagles are flying to. But the downside is many times your subject is far, far away. So you have to come up with solutions to get visually closer, like stacking 1.4x & 2x teleconverter. Sometimes it works & sometimes it does not. But it funto try!
