Along the Wildlife Drive in the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, there is a group of trees at one of the bends in the drive that seems to attract a variety of Herons along with Egrets. You can usually see Black-Crowned Night-Herons, Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons, and occasionally Yellow-crowned Night-Herons & Cattle Egrets. This series are with the Great Egrets.
Great perch, great shots!
Thanks Belinda! It is amazing what I have seen and photographed in this group of trees over the years! On this day the Black-crowned Night-Herons were on the back side of the trees and only saw little glimpses of them.
In your first photograph I like the shadows on the white of the egret.
Thanks Steve! Sorry for the delay, we were busy closing our studio.
Understood. That’s a big endeavor.
Somehow it’s surprising to see those large birds roosting in trees while thinking it quite normal for turkeys to do the same.
Yes! I agree. Plus it seems like it would be hard for a big bird to be on a small branch!
